Who We Are
SERVING MACOMB COUNTY FOR NEARLY 50 YEARS
Family Youth Interventions (FYI) was founded in 1975 as Macomb County Youth Interim Care Facility (MCYICF), a component of Comprehensive Youth Services, Inc. (CYS). MCYICF opened its’ doors to the first client in spring of 1976 at the convent of St. Mark’s Church in Warren.
In the mid-90’s, the agency changed its’ name to Family Youth Interventions. In 2000, FYI located to Mount Clemens to be more centrally located within the county. FYI started to expand in 2005 with a grant accepted for a Homeless Youth Program which provides housing, counseling, case management services and life skills.
In 2006, a grant was approved for the Street Outreach Program (SOP) which initially operated out of the residential building. In the spring of 2007, the SOP relocated to our new drop-in center called the Refuge. Unfortunetly, due to the limited grant opportunities, the Refuge was closed in 2016. In 2009, the Homeless Youth Program was expanded to include a long term Transitional Living Program which opened to residents in March of ’11. In 2020, the agency furthered services with a rapid re-housing program. FYI received a federal grant, in 2024, to reestablish the Street Outreach Program.
Family Youth Interventions has always been the only organization of its kind in Macomb County. We work closely with counseling agencies, the Macomb County Juvenile Court, Children’s Protective Services, schools and psychiatric hospitals. We accept young people from any county and have even assisted youth from out of state. Anyone can make a referral to any of our programs. As a non-profit organization, there is no cost to the youth and families we serve. While we receive state and federal grants, we do rely heavily on donations from families, the community, and businesses, to provide the best possible resources for youth and families in need.
