The Emergency Shelter-Basic Center Program, licensed as a Child Caring Institution by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services, offers a safe haven for youth in need. Funded primarily through grants from the Michigan Department of Human Services, the Department of Health and Human Services, and MSHDA, the program also depends on community and family donations. Services are provided free of charge to youth and families, and health insurance is not required.
The program accommodates up to six youth, ages 12 to 17, for a maximum stay of 21 days. Our facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, with a fully staffed team committed to providing continuous care. A 24-hour crisis line is also available to support youth, families, and referral sources.
Our Mission
We provide young people with a safe and supportive environment where their basic needs are met, their voices are heard, and they are treated with respect.
Our goal is to help youth discover their strengths, develop resilience, and learn skills that prepare them for a brighter future. We recognize that many participants have experienced challenging or traumatic life events, and we are here to support both them and their families in finding a path forward.
