The Transitional Living Program (TLP) is funded through the Michigan Department of Human Services, and the Family and Youth Services Bureau, and assists older teens and young adults that are at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless. The program is fully licensed through the State of Michigan as a child care institution. Any one can refer a youth to this program. This residential program houses a maximum of 6 homeless youth ages 16-21. Youth may stay up to 18 months. The youth are provided counseling and life skills to lead the youth from life on the streets to a life of self-sufficiency. The youth is required to find employment, continue their education, and complete volunteer hours. The application and interview process can take up to two to three weeks.

We can house up to six residents at the TLP. Residents are between 16 and 21 years old when they move in. All genders are welcome. We have 24-hour staff, but only residents live here. Residents are motivated to complete the requirements and move towards independence.
To be eligible you must be homeless or at risk of being homeless and be between the ages of 16 and 21. We are unable to house anyone under the age of 16 or over the ages of 21. Please be aware anyone currently in foster care, having a criminal sexual conduct charge, violent felony, and/or in their third trimester of pregnancy are NOT eligible for the program. Staff will do their best to provide referrals.
Of course. We have house rules defined by State Licensing, staff, and residents. Three standard rules are no sex, no drugs, and no violence.
You leave. You are here voluntarily, and if you decide the TLP is not where you want to be, staff can help you find a different place. If you are under 18, a legal guardian needs to sign you out of the TLP.
Residents can live at TLP for up to 18 months, depending on age at entrance.
No. We can offer you aftercare services for counseling, case management, and support.

The first interview is to explain the program and answer your questions. After first interview, staff will contact you with next steps.
