Job Title: Intervention Specialist Part-Time

Description: Work with up to 6 male/female clients, ages 12-17, in a 21 day youth crisis shelter. Supervise and assist clients with daily structured schedule and activities. Facilitating group, educational, life skills and recreational activities. Assist clients and families with conflict resolution and crisis management. Answer and assist callers on the 24 crisis line. Perform phone and in-person assessments on prospective clients. Complete daily client behavior and observation documentation as well as all other required documentation. Assist with building upkeep and cleanliness. Opportunities to do community outreach, grant writing and fundraising.

Availability: Part-time Intervention Specialists (IS’s) work 3-4 times a week on average. They can work a maximum of 7 shifts in a 2 week pay period. Shifts include a combinations of 7 am to 3 pm, 3-11 pm, and occasional 11 pm to 7 am. All IS’s share in covering weekend shifts and holiday hours. We are open 365 days a year and never close.

Our current need are individuals who can work a combination of some weekday 3-11 pm shifts, as well as 7 am – 3 pm and or 3-11 pm shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.

Wages: $15.00 an hour. When staff works any midnight, Friday PM or weekend shift, they earn a bonus hour of pay for at least 8 hours worked. There is time and a half for holidays.

Requirements: Applicants MUST have 2-3 years of college in a human services field (Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Family Studies) AND professional experience working with adolescents Individuals must have a negative TB test result and have 3 satisfactory professional reference checks. The applicant must pass criminal and child abuse/neglect background checks. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interested individuals must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure and be able to deal with crisis situations. MUST be patient.

The pay is low but the position provides excellent experience for those going into social work, psychology, counseling and human services.

Transitional Living Specialist

Location: 235 Cass Avenue, Mount Clemens, MI 48043

Job Title: Transitional Living Specialist

Description: Working with young adults ages 16 – 20 in an 18 month residential program. Assist in the implementation of the Transitional Living Program (TLP) in accordance with licensing standards utilizing the Ansell-Casey Transitional Living Assessment, Curriculum and Guide Book. Maintain the policies and procedures governing the TLP. Assist in the implementation of the TLP including coordination with community agencies and resources. Assist in meeting contract and licensing requirements and completing required paperwork. Assist in observing all health, fire, and safety regulations as well as assuring all resident medical and safety regulations as well as assuring all resident medical and safety needs are met. Assist resident with daily routine including hygiene and self-care issues, planning personal schedules and leisure time, teaching daily living skills and providing transportation when necessary. Help facilitate resident house meetings.

Availability: Part time (24 hours / week). The program is open and requires staff coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Employees will work a flexible schedule including: Days, Evenings, and Midnights. Employees will share covering weekends and holidays. Schedule is posted one month at a time.

Wages: $15.00/ hour

Requirements: Minimum of a high school diploma with at least one year experience working with youth. Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field is preferred such as: Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health. One year of experience working with youth / adolescents is preferred. Applicants must consent to criminal and Central Registry Clearance (child abuse and neglect) background checks.
Also required is proof of a negative TB test, three references, and a valid driver’s license.
